XONR8 Theater
For this project everyone in my class was assigned groups of 3-4 people to write and perform a play in verbatim based on actual oral history interviews about crime, and injustice. The reason we did this project was to get a interdisciplinary project that uses biology and humanities to get a better understanding on how criminal justice works. Our goals for this project were to become historians, familiarize with acting, and give a sense of understanding to the public on the type of world we live in and its injustice.
Each group had to present their play on the night of December 8th & 9th in the On stage play house In Chula Vista 3rd ave. On those two nights we got to tell untold true stories about people that have been wrongfully convicted of a crime and are sentenced to either a really long time in jail or even death. This project lasted from Oct 27 to Dec 12, and in those two months before we did anything we had an actor come to our school and basically advertise the play we were going to go to so we can get a look at what a real play looks like and how we can incorporate those ideas on our plays. It was a really awesome process because I got to learn a thing or two about theater and it gave me a hands on experience on what a good play looks like.
My group and I, in order to have a working play we had to give each other tasks in order for us to have a good management of what we were doing. Through out this whole project we worked together to write scrips, interview, act, and make verbatim outlines based on the interviews of our client or his lawyers. It was a great learning experience that I got to learn team management.

Reflection of the XONR8 Theater
Looking back at our XONR8 theater project I believe the moment I felt the play was better than I expected was when I first saw our audience. Everything was pitch black and I was just waiting for the play to begin, when out of no where... Boom! The lights went on and my play was being performed. The moment I was able to see I just saw everyone's faces concentrated on us and actually intrigued on what was going to be said next. Throughout this project I believe I got a fair amount of contribution of my work to my group. I was able to work with Rafael in a very productive way when it came to making the outline for the verbatim interview of Tim Atkins and Kim Hernandez. I would also be asking my group members if they needed help or was any other work that needed to be done. I got to interview Tim Atkins and got to ask him questions that an article did not have the answers to. I think something I am really proud of is my persistence in this project. Many distractions would occur over our free working time periods but I would do my best to neglect them. I would achieve this by either isolating myself in my own table or ask the person in a respectful manner that I was busy and needed space. A lesson i learned this project was to not be afraid to be on the spotlight and actually performing. I have always been afraid of acting and for the first time i got a hands on experience and it went awesome!
